Development State

Where the project stands and where it is going.

nextDMX is in an early stage of development. Many core systems are working, but much is unfinished, experimental or subject to change.

Do not use this software for live shows or anything important yet. Expect bugs, missing features and breaking changes.

Where the project is right now

At its core, nextDMX already provides advanced lighting control. You can patch fixtures, control DMX output, create scenes, build timelines and experiment with various workflows.

These features are functional, but some are unpolished or experimental. Some may be redesigned, simplified, expanded or replaced as development continues.

What is unfinished

Expect missing features, incomplete workflows and inconsistencies in the interface. You may run into bugs from time to time.

Known Issues lists what is currently incomplete or planned to change.

Vision and direction

The long-term goal is a modern, flexible and powerful lighting control software that feels fast and intuitive, works for both simple setups and complex productions, and allows creating time-, music- and event-based shows.

Your role as a beta user

If you are using this beta, you are part of the development process. Your feedback helps answer:

  • Which workflows make sense?
  • What feels confusing or slow?
  • Which features are actually useful in real setups?
  • What is missing that you need for your shows?
  • Where should the project focus next?

Even small comments have a big impact. See Getting Help for where to send them.
